Russell +0.8% as chips & energy lead; Fed odds keep breadth thin

In partnership with

Good Morning Investors,

Energy was another bright spot. The S&P 500 Energy sector rose 1.1%, supported by strong fuel demand trends and favorable industry fundamentals. Energy related names, particularly producers, service providers, and infrastructure companies, continue to benefit from a healthier operating backdrop than many growth oriented sectors.

Market breadth remains uneven. Semiconductors and energy continue to offer the most compelling areas of strength, but sustained outperformance will likely require improving participation beyond mega cap technology, along with greater clarity on Federal Reserve policy and interest rate expectations.
